MassNAHRO will hold its 31st Annual Legislative Education Day at the State House on Tuesday, March 13, 2012. This annual event is an important step in advancing the funding priorities and legislative petitions for public housing authorities and their residents.
The agenda this year will include a briefing update for legislators and housing officials. The briefing will include the background of state public housing and housing authorities, the 2013 budget priorities, and bills that merit support. The traditional luncheon, to which all senators and representatives are warmly invited, will begin with a brief speaking program at noon in the Great Hall. Aaron Gornstein, newly appointed DHCD Undersecretary, has confirmed his attendance. Invited guest speakers include Chairs of the Joint Housing Committees, Senator James Eldrige and Representative Kevin Honan.
MassNAHRO members are strongly encouraged to contact their local legislators to arrange a brief visit in their offices before or after lunch to discuss local issues, and provide specific information to demonstrate how insufficient funding will impact your agency, residents and community.
