On Tuesday, in the bustling community room of the Golda Meir House in Newton, hundreds of stakeholders gathered to watch the Governor and Lieutenant Governor sign the historic Affordable Homes Act. The bill authorizes $5.16 billion in spending over the next five years, including $2.2 billion for public housing modernization and development. MassNAHRO members have been advocating for passage of the bill since Gov. Healey filed it last October. In addition to even more authorizations than in the Governor's version, the final bill includes several policy initiatives that benefit housing authority operations and capital improvements. We appreciate the tremendous support of the Administration, the Legislature, and our partners in the affordable housing industry for getting the largest housing bond bill in the state's history over the finish line. |
