Last week, EOHLC released a five-year Statewide Housing Plan, the first comprehensive look at the state’s housing needs in at least a generation. This plan, titled “A Home for Everyone,” sets out goals and strategies to address the housing crisis head on. Specific to public housing, the plan sets out several points to protect existing homes and affordability. These include, repairing, rehabilitating, and repositioning the state’s public housing portfolio, providing financial support and technical assistance for decarbonizing affordable housing, preserving homes with expiring affordability restrictions, and more. The plan, which is accompanied by a Statewide Housing Needs Assessment, is a crucial framework to next steps for housing in Massachusetts. A full online site will be launched in the spring of 2025, and as more information becomes available, we will share it with you.
