On March 20th, the legislature passed H.62, legislation extending the option to conduct public meetings remotely through June of 2027. Set to expire on March 31st, this law provides authorization for public bodies subject to Massachusetts Open Meeting Law to conduct their meetings remotely. Both members serving the public bodies and members of the public may participate remotely, and this legislation covers both hybrid meetings and fully remote meetings. The legislation further removes language tying the remote authorization to the COVID-19 pandemic conditions. The legislation has been sent to the Governor and awaits her signature to become law.
