On April 2nd , MassNAHRO held its 2025 Legislative Advocacy Day at the State House. Nearly 70 housing authority board members, Executive Directors, and staff were in attendance. The day kicked off with remarks from President Michael Lara and MassNAHRO Executive Director Donna Brown-Rego highlighting the importance of out collective advocacy and the benefits it has had for housing authorities across Massachusetts. Newly-appointed Chairs of the Joint Committee on Housing, Senator Julian Cyr and Representative Richard Haggerty, also gave remarks. Both highlighted the importance of expanding access to housing, and the great work that our local housing authorities do in keeping our most vulnerable residents housed. Several legislators were in attendance including Rep. Kevin Honan, Sen. Michael Brady, Rep. Vitolo, and Rep. Erika Uyterhoeven. Fifteen other legislators sent staff to the event. Following remarks, members made their way throughout the building, meeting individually with their representatives and senators. It was a great turnout, and everyone did a wonderful job advocating for more resources in the FY2026 budget for housing authorities and their residents. Stay tuned for future advocacy opportunities.
