Tuesday, June 18th 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Webinar ![]() Summary: On June 3, 2016, the Legislature enacted, “An Act to Improve Public Records”, Chapter 121 of the Acts of 2016, Chapter 121, which became effective on January 1, 2017. This law enhanced public access to information. As a result, housing authorities and public entities throughout the state have had to adjust their public records practices. This webinar will cover the important aspects to the Public Records Law, and provide you with information to be sure you are following current public records practices, which will help you avoid potential fines and punitive damages. It will also address Records Access Officers, exemptions, appeals and much more!

Presenter: Michele E. Randazzo is a Member at the law firm of KP Law, P.C., where she primarily represents local and regional governmental entities, and specializes in labor & employment, litigation, and the public records and open meeting laws. Michele is a founding member of the firm’s Government Information and Access Group, as well as the firm’s COVID-19 response legal team. She previously served as an Attorney-Advisor in the Department of Justice’s Executive Office of United States Attorney, Equal Employment Opportunity staff. Michele is the co-Editor of and contributing author to the LexisNexis Practice Guide: Massachusetts Administrative Law and Practice, and was named a Massachusetts SuperLawyer in the area of state, local & municipal law in 2017, 2018, and 2019. She is a trained EEO investigator and mediator and has also successfully completed the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination’s Certified Train-the-Trainer Courses in Discrimination and Harassment Prevention. Michele is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Suffolk University Law School. Michele has presented at numerous MassNAHRO conferences and trainings. Cancellation Policy: MassNAHRO must receive written notice of cancellation at least eight (8) days prior to the event. Refunds will not be given in cases where a registrant cancels less than eight (8) days in advance or fails to attend. When payment is not received prior to the event, registrant is responsible for the full registration fee if written notice of cancellation is not received by MassNAHRO at least eight (8) days prior to the event. Registration fees can not be applied to future training or events. |
