Summary: Have you ever encountered someone that was really difficult to interact with? Do you have a hard time maintaining your composure with challenging personalities? This workshop will review de-escalation strategies with a focus on understanding the “why” behind certain behaviors. The principles of using a trauma informed approach will be explored along with the benefits of how it can positively impact staff and those we serve. Example real-life scenarios will be explored and participation from the attendees is highly encouraged. This interactive workshop is applicable for Resident Service Coordinators, Department Heads, Housing Managers, Maintenance staff or anyone that works with people.
Presenter: Cathy Hoog, LMHC, LMFT Cathy Hoog is currently the Executive Director for the Salem and Marblehead Housing Authorities. Cathy has worked in leadership roles in the industry of Public Housing since 1997 where she got her start as a Resident Services Coordinator. As a practicing Mental Health Clinician, Cathy also has over 20 years of social service and mental health experience working with myriad of populations, diverse cultures and age groups in a variety of community, public and private mental health settings. Cathy is passionate about creating service rich opportunities for residents and voucher holders in public housing as well as training and education for staff to excel in our industry. Registration: $169 for Members $369 for Non-Members
Cancellation Policy: MassNAHRO must receive written notice of cancellation at least eight (8) days prior to the event. Refunds will not be given in cases where a registrant cancels less than eight (8) days in advance or fails to attend. When payment is not received prior to the event, registrant is responsible for the full registration fee if written notice of cancellation is not received by MassNAHRO at least eight (8) days prior to the event. Registration fees can not be applied to future trainings. |
